Sonia Saxena (Amisha Patel), the daughter of a very rich man (Daleep Tahil), meets Rohit (Hrithik Roshan), a singer of humble means, and starts liking him. Rohit tries to dissuade her, owing to their differences in social status, but to no avail. While on a cruise ship, they get separated from the rest of their party and end up on a deserted island. They live happily there for a few days and fall in love. They are duly rescued, thereafter. Sonia's friends help Rohit to make a name for himself so that they can get married. But before he reaches this goal, he meets an untimely death.
Sonia falls into a depression and in desperation, Sonia's father sends her to live with her cousins in New Zealand to get over her heartbreak. In New Zealand she meets Raj Chopra who looks exactly like Rohit.
Raj falls in love with Sonia and comes back to India with her. Together they discover that there was a conspiracy behind Rohit's death, and that he was actually murdered. Will they be able to catch the murderers and bring them to justice?
